Fire

Directions on what to do and where to go if you discover a fire on Humber property.

  • Leave the fire area immediately and close doors behind you
  • Sound the fire alarm by pulling a manual fire alarm station
  • Call the Fire Department from a safe location: 911
  • Leave the building by the nearest exit

Upon hearing the fire alarm - intermittent tone:

  • Stand by and prepare to leave building
  • DO NOT USE ELEVATORS

Upon hearing the fire alarm - continuous tone:

  • Leave the building by the nearest exit
  • Close doors behind you
  • If you encounter smoke, use an alternate exit
  • DO NOT USE ELEVATORS

Locations with two stage fire alarm systems (intermittent and continuous) and a Public Address System:

  • North Campus and the University of Guelph-Humber
  • Centre for Trades and Technology (110 Carrier Drive)
  • All Lakeshore Campus Locations 

Locations with a single stage system (continuous only) and a Public Address System:

  • North and Lakeshore Residence Buildings

Locations with a single stage system (continuous only) and no Public Address System:

  • North Campus: Building W and Centre for Urban Ecology
