The Department of Public Safety uses various methods to ensure appropriate access is given to sensitive areas: 

• Card readers are used on doors that require an increased level of security and controlled access, including high risk areas
• CCTV systems are used in conjunction with the card readers, ensuring appropriate access is given when needed
• Intrusion systems and motion detectors are employed in areas where access is limited to specific high risk areas
• All alarms are point monitored by Humber’s 24 hour security dispatch centre
