Personal Safety recommendations:

• Do not engage with strangers if you feel unsafe.
• Don’t “flash”/openly display valuable items, that could make you a target of theft.
• Do not enter vehicles with unknown persons.
• Don’t be afraid to offend a stranger by walking away.
• Add the Guardian App to your phone and use the Call Humber Security button for assistance when on campus.
• Be aware of your surroundings and of others around you.
• Buyer beware-if it’s too good to be true, it probably is.
• Make note of descriptions of the potential suspect / vehicle / licence plate / what was said-asked / direction of travel.
• Call security, or police if off campus, to report suspicious or concerning behaviour.
• Security is available 24 hours a day and can be reached by calling 416-675-8500, or by using a campus emergency (code blue) phone or by using the ‘Call Humber Security’ button on the Guardian App.
• Enter a place of safety with other people/witnesses’ present (e.g., coffee shop).
• Walk in groups-avoid walking alone anytime, but especially at night-safety in numbers.
• Avoid dark, isolated areas.
• Campus walk is available 24 hours a day, by calling security.
