Our Fall 2024 final exam season is upon us, and the Testing Services team would like to remind you of the Test Centre processes. Finals are an extremely busy time for the Test Centre, and we appreciate your support in following procedures during this busy period.

Faculty Members

  • Please ensure that the final version of the test is submitted and uploaded to Registerblast in a timely manner. This ensures that learners can book their appointments, this step must be completed prior to students being able to book their exam appointment. Note: Guelph-Humber faculty; the Testing Services link must be made visible by faculty.
  • It is mandatory that final test files/test documents are attached to your submission for approval. If you fail to comply by adding placeholder or incomplete files, then the submission will not be approved. Note: During high volume exam delivery times, it can take a few business days for the team to approve exams, so please make the completed submission as early as possible. The Test Centre supports exams that are one-hour in duration or greater. If you require support with a test/exam under that duration of time, please email katarina.mebaoudj@humber.ca.
  • If you know that you have attached an incorrect test or you have amended your test document, please refrain from sending the amended document less than 24 hours before the student’s exam appointment. Please email katarina.mebaoudj@humber.ca if you require a last-minute change to be implemented. If edits are made to the exam document, and the manager is not notified, we cannot guarantee the updated version will be available to the student.
  • Our test centres predominately support electronic examinations, and as such, we do not accept any tests that are dropped off in-person. All tests must be submitted through the Registerblast Test Submission Portal. Accommodations that require paper versions of exams to be available, are printed by our team members.
  • Accommodated learners are given priority to write tests in our testing centres. If you have students who do not require an accommodation, and are looking for support from the test centre, this may or may not be approved depending on capacity. Please email testingservices@humber.ca.
  • Please note that private rooms are limited, and students may be booked for a private room outside of class time.

Faculty, please remind students of the following:

  • It is imperative that students are aware of booking procedures. All test appointments must be scheduled 36 hours in advance of the day that they desire to take their test. We do not accept walk-ins or same day bookings. The Test Centre operates on an appointment-based booking system. If there are difficulties in booking their test, then please connect with us in a timely manner either in person, via the phone and email (testingservices@humber.ca).
  • It is the student’s responsibility to be punctual for their test. Finals are an extremely busy time and if they are not going to be on time for their appointment, then ensure we are emailed at testingservices@humber.ca. Students may need to reschedule if they are not on time for their exam appointment.
  • Students are required to show some form of government identification that is valid; expired identification will not be accepted. Photographs of identification will not be accepted. Identification can be in the form of college/university ID, health card or driver’s license. Failure to comply will result in the exam appointment being cancelled.
  • Students are expected to comply with the rules and procedures within the test centres. The use of abusive language or gestures towards staff will not be tolerated.

If students are experiencing challenges when booking an appointment, please advise them to connect with us for assistance.

We look forward to a smooth and successful final exam period and thank you in advance for your cooperation in supporting our students.

November 16 to December 8 is SFQ Season for 14-week courses!

Student Feedback Questionnaires (SFQs) invite students to provide anonymous feedback on their learning experience in each course each semester to support our shared commitment to ensuring the quality of our academic programs at Humber. Student feedback is anonymous and confidential, and is not used to evaluate your job performance.

Please review these important points about the Fall 2024 Student Feedback Questionnaires (SFQs):

  1. Instructors, please schedule 20 minutes of in-class time when students will complete the SFQ. This ensures students are aware of the SFQ, and have time to answer them. Consider stepping out of the class during this time to allow students to have peace of mind when answering their SFQs. Sharing an example of how this feedback has helped improve course content provides an example for students of what to provide feedback on, and that their voices are heard.
  2. Instructors must enable the SFQ in Blackboard following this process (Visual instructions for adding your SFQ into Blackboard):
  • Select "Books & Tools" (Details & Actions, left course content menu)
  • Click "+" next to "Student Feedback Questionnaire"
  • Once added to the course content, make the SFQ visible for students.

As a thank you for sharing their perspectives, students who complete the SFQ are eligible to enter into a prize draw. The grand prize winner can choose between an iPad or an iPhone. This SFQ contest started on November 20 and ends on December 20, with the draw for the iPhone or iPad happening on January 3, 2025. The deadline to pickup your gift is January 13, if you're the lucky winner.

Please Note: As a thank you when more than 50 per cent of the students in a faculty member's course complete the SFQ, the faculty member is automatically entered into a raffle for an on-campus food services gift card, or service at the Humber room.

Learn more about your SFQ dates and other helpful information for faculty and students.

With the support of the Executive Team, ITS will be requiring additional approvals for end of fiscal purchases of IT service assets (laptops, iPads, etc.).

When proposing purchases for this fiscal year, please consider

  • What is absolutely needed and cannot be deferred/purchased next year?
  • If it is the best decision for Humber, it’s students, faculty, and staff?
  • Where does it fit into the priorities of Humber?
  • What is the impact of not proceeding?

Large orders will require responses to the considerations above as well as approval from your VP.

To ensure that approved orders can be captured for this fiscal please have your orders placed by Friday, December 6, 2024.

Reminder: For service asset purchases to be captured in the current fiscal year’s budget they must be fully received before March 31, 2025

Should you have any questions or concerns, please contact Eva Ponce, Associate Director Technology & Support.
