Am I eligible to receive reimbursement for a professional development course I took?
Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)
Eligibility requirements are outlined in section 5.4.2 of Humber’s Professional Development Policy. Eligible employee groups include the following:
- All full-time (Admin, Support and Academic) employees with six months or more of service are eligible to receive reimbursement of up to $1,000 per fiscal year for tuition fees only. This includes employees on sabbatical or maternity/paternity leave.
- The following part-time/contract employee groups with a minimum of one year of continuous service are eligible to receive reimbursement of up to $500 per fiscal year for tuition fees only:
- Part-time/contract admin employees
- Regular part-time support staff
- All part-time/contract academic employees, including clinical contracts, NFT professor contracts, CE contracts, partial load contracts, sessional professor contracts, NFT Counsellors and NFT Librarians.
- TAP provides reimbursement for tuition fees only, for courses taken at an accredited post-secondary institution or professional association. This includes Humber and University of Guelph-Humber courses if they were not taken at the discounted employee rate of $20.
- Reimbursements will only be paid upon successful completion of the course. A course must be completed within the current fiscal year (April 1 – March 31) to be eligible for reimbursement. A course completed in the previous fiscal year will not be approved for reimbursement.
