How do I hire a work study student on HRMS?
Hiring a Humber work study student:
Students are required to get work study approval prior to an offer being created/extended. Once the student is approved for work study, the manager will attach a copy of the work study approval email to the candidate’s profile on the requisition on the HRMS. The manager will then create the offer and request approval from HR. When HR reviews the offer they will only approve it if the work study approval email is attached. Once approved, HR extends the offer to the student. A work study report from HRMS will be reconciled with a work study report from Financial Aid to ensure all students on work study contracts are work study approved.
Please refer to the How to Create a Contract knowledge article for an overview of the process and a step-by-step guide.
Note: Humber work study jobs are posted through Career Services, not through HRMS.
Hiring a University of Guelph-Humber work study student:
The manager must confirm with Student Financial Services that the student is approved for work study. In the past, when submitting a Work Study contract on the HRMS, a Work Study approval form needed to be completed, attached and submitted with a contract on the HRMS for approval from your Talent Acquisition Advisor. As of Fall 2020, you no longer need to complete a Work Study approval form and attach it with the Work Study contract on the HRMS. The new process is to create the Work Study contract and submit it to your Talent Acquisition Advisor for approval.
Please review the How to Create a Contract knowledge article for an overview of the process and a step-by-step guide.
Note: The University of Guelph-Humber work study jobs are posted through GHWorks, not through the HRMS.
