I took a Humber course that was not eligible for the discounted employee rate of $20. Can I submit this course for reimbursement under the Tuition Assistance Program?
Eligibility requirements for the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP) are outlined in section 5.4.2 of Humber’s Professional Development Policy. Eligible employee groups include the following:
- All full-time (Admin, Support and Academic) employees with six months or more of service are eligible to receive reimbursement of up to $1,000 per fiscal year for tuition fees only. This includes employees on sabbatical or maternity/paternity leave.
- The following part-time/contract employee groups with a minimum of one year of continuous service are eligible to receive reimbursement of up to $500 per fiscal year for tuition fees only:
- Part-time/contract admin employees
- Regular part-time support staff
- All part-time/contract academic employees, including clinical contracts, NFT professor contracts, CE contracts, partial load contracts, sessional professor contracts, NFT Counsellors and NFT Librarians.
- TAP provides reimbursement for tuition fees only, for courses taken at an accredited post-secondary institution or professional association. This includes Humber and University of Guelph-Humber courses if they were not taken at the discounted employee rate of $20.
- Reimbursements will only be paid upon successful completion of the course. A course must be completed within the current fiscal year (April 1 – March 31) to be eligible for reimbursement. A course completed in the previous fiscal year will not be approved for reimbursement.
- For more information on the Tuition Assistance Program (TAP), including the steps to apply for reimbursement, please visit the TAP section of the Tuition Reimbursement and Scholarships website.
Note: Any questions regarding tuition reimbursement for dependents of employees are not related to TAP and should be directed to the Total Rewards Team.
