What type of health and safety training should I receive as an employee?

1. All employees must complete mandatory Health and Safety Awareness training.

2. Employees who work with or around chemicals or other hazardous materials must receive Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training.

3. In addition, employees must receive workplace-specific training on the hazards that they may encounter in their work areas.  Examples of workplace-specific training may include ladder safety, working at heights, safe lifting, manual materials handling, ergonomics, or machine safety.  Your manager will let you know what type of training you are required to attend.
